Presenter page
I am Barrie Everest, I have been married to Jean since 1966, and have a married daughter. I joined Radio North Kent in 1989 (following 30 years with St. John Ambulance) to assist the studio engineer. I was quickly "encouraged" to do some ward visiting, which I soon realised was one of the more important jobs on the station. In 1990 I was "persuaded" to stand for the committee, I was elected and got the job of organising the ward visitors. I was asked to train as a presenter to cover programmes (as a relief presenter) when required. I continued to organise ward
visitors until 1994 when I was elected Vice Chairman and inherited the job of Programme Controller. In 1996 I was elected Chairman, this entailed the job of Station Manager, a job which I have been pleased to continue until the present day. I continued to present programmes, until February 2011,each week, on Sunday mornings between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. with the "Most Requested Artists" from the previous week on Hospital Radio North Kent. I am now a relief presenter and cover when ever I can.
