Programme controller

I'm Helen Downs I have been involved with Radio North Kent for over 16 years and regularly presents shows on Saturday mornings & sometimes other times. I have also taken part in Phoenix Radio, an RSL organised by Gravesham Scouts and was the DriveTime presenter. I was involved with The River since its first broadcast in 1997. I started as a Travel presenter. From 1998 until January 2002 I was part of the "Sunday Breakfast" team at Millennium 106.8FM and could regularly be heard broadcasting there. The station then changed to Time 106.8 & has since closed. For a day job, I'm a trained social worker and I currently work for Kent Social Services in a Family Support Team. In my spare time I enjoys listening to all kinds of music, singing in a church worship band and generally relaxing (if I gets the chance!) With my dad, Mike Povey, we are Radio North Kent's & the River's only father and daughter presenting team, and I'm proud to say that I have learnt all I knows from him (well, I must blame someone). I have been married to Nick, a musician since 1997.
We have 1 son.
